Twitter (X) Video Search Tool: Free Search Builder
This free Twitter (X) video search tool builds a video search for X from what you remember: a few words, an account, a date range. Fill in the fields, then click Search on X to open the results, or copy the query to use it anywhere. It only uses X’s own search operators, so you get the same results as X search, without having to remember the syntax.
filter:videos
Searching X requires being logged in to an X account. This page builds the search only: nothing you type is sent to Birdy.
How to use the Twitter video search tool
- Type the words you remember from the post or the video. Tick Exact phrase if you remember the wording exactly.
- Add an account if you know who posted it. Leave it empty if you’re looking for the original uploader: restricting the account can hide them.
- Pick the video type. “All videos” includes YouTube links. “Videos hosted on X only” keeps clips uploaded to X.
- Set a date range if you know roughly when the video was posted.
- Click Search on X. To see only posts with media in the results, open the Media tab on X.
How to find the original post of a video with this tool
Sort by Latest, set a narrow date range around the earliest copy you found, and click ◀ One day earlier to move the range back one day at a time. When the results are empty, the last copy you found is the earliest one on X for that search. Tick Exclude quote posts to remove quote posts that repeat the same clip.
That earliest copy isn’t always the creator: check for watermarks and copies on other platforms. Our guide on how to find the source of a Twitter video explains the full method, and the Twitter reverse video search guide covers what to do when the clip started outside X.
